“4Gats” exhibition

“Cafe&Factory” decided to support the exhibition “4 cats”, „Cuatro Gatos“ which for the first time brought to Belgrade, the works of the most prominent Spanish painters of 20th century: Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Juan Miro, Antonio Tapies.
The audience has the chance to enjoy  the original graphic works of the eminent Spanish authors, and the interesting name of the exhibition comes from the cafe of the same name in Barcelona, - „Cuatro Gatos“ (“ Els Quatre Gats” in catalan), which was famous for the fact that there, the most significant artists from the beginning of 20th century, were gathering.

  1. Els Quatre Gats café is the popular place, which was opened on 12th June 1897 in Barcelona, and functioned as a bar, restaurant, and cabare.
  2. The name (4 cats) represents the colloquial catalan phrase for “ a few people”, and in the same time,  the name is the reminiscence to the parisien cafe Le chat Noir (Black cat)
  3. As a place of gathering of artists, this cafe became the institution and after many years after closing, reopened in the form of restaurant in the year 1989., and under the same name, as a travelling exhibition, which showcase the graphic works of the famous painters: Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Juan Miro, Antonio Tapies.

Supporting this exhibition, “Cafe&Factory” is joining to the group of very few (Els Quatre Gats) who do support the real artistic values, representing graphics as a media of the most eminent artists of XX century. This exhibition contributed to bring our capital city in the very center of European cultural map this autumn.

The works of “4 cats” were exhibited in ”New Moment” gallery  from 10th September-10th October 2013.
